HBO Max Greenlights “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,” a “Big Bang Theory” Spinoff

According to Cinemadrame News Agency, HBO Max has greenlit the production of the series “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.” This show is a spinoff of “The Big Bang Theory,” with Kevin Sussman returning to reprise his role as Stuart Bloom.

Stuart Bloom was the comic book store owner in “The Big Bang Theory” who inadvertently causes a catastrophe in parallel universes with one of Sheldon and Leonard’s inventions and must now save the world from destruction.

Other returning cast members for this series include Lauren Lapkus as Denise, Stuart’s girlfriend, Brian Posehn as his geologist friend, and John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke. All these actors are reprising roles they first played in “The Big Bang Theory.”

Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki starred as Sheldon and Leonard in the original series, but their names have not been listed among the main cast for the new show. Executive producing duties for the series will be handled by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady.

“The Big Bang Theory,” which followed a group of young scientists, aired on CBS from 2007 to 2019. The first spinoff, “Young Sheldon,” ran for seven seasons and concluded last year. A second spinoff series, “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” premiered last fall.
